Sunday Morning Worship, August 20, 2017 | Carl McCray, Pastor

What if? Why Not? What if I let go of worry? (Matthew 6:19-34 NIV)

Today was another wonderful day of worship at Burgin Baptist Church!  Larry Inman told his testimony about the Good News. The Burgin Baptist choir led us in worship with music as they sang, “He Knows My Name.” Pastor Carl McCray helped us explore the possibilities of letting go of worry.

What if? Why not? What if I let go of worry?

Worry left unchecked will choke us. Worry causes health problems, keeps you from enjoying the moment, and worst of all, worry is sin – a lack of faith! So how do you learn to let go of worry? Scripture gives us a directive. Don’t worry – God’s got this!

Don’t worry – God’s got this!

To win over worry…

  1. Check your PRIORITIES. Ask yourself, “What have I put above God that I’m worrying about?” Remember to “…seek first His kingdom and His righteous” (Matthew 6:31-33 NIV).
  2. Check your PRAYER LIFE. James 4:2 NIV tells us “….you do not have because you do not ask.”
  3. Check your PRACTICES. Look at what you do and the direction it is leading you.. “Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.” Philippians 4:9 NIV

If you let go of worry, you will learn to focus on what’s really important, and you will recognize the provisions of God (Matthew 6:30 NIV).
