Living in the Present (John 12:12-16)

On this Palm Sunday, the faith family of Burgin Baptist Church celebrated with the observance of the Lord’s Supper. When you think about Palm Sunday, this was an important event in the journey of Jesus. Everyone wanted to hear and see the Miracle Worker, the Messiah. Jesus road into town on a donkey, which in that day and time, symbolized that He came in peace. It was misunderstood. He didn’t come to use force or shed the blood of others. He came, not to conquer the political powers or government authority, but to conquer death, hell, and the grave. He came to bring peace.

Sometimes, like the disciples back then, we don’t understand the significance of what God is doing. Rest assured, God is working out His perfect plan. What God wants us to learn today is to live in the present. Make it your choice every day, every moment to trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. We may not understand what is happening, but what we must do is live in the present and trust in Him.

“At first his disciples did not understand all this. Only after Jesus was glorified did they realize that these things had been written about him and that these things had been done to him.”   – John 12:16 NIV
