Message: Run the Race

How do we prepare ourselves for what’s on the horizon as we run the race? Here are some facts for the journey.

  1. Keep your eyes on Jesus. Don’t get distracted. God will provide. He will never let you down.
  2. Start at the right place. When hard times come, don’t start with the hard time. Start with Jesus. Get your feet on a firm foundation. We may not understand how or why certain things happen, but we do know that Jesus is full of mercy, grace, kindness, and wisdom. We won’t understand everything, but it will keep everything in perspective.
  3. Remember Whose you are. In Christ, the outcome has already been determined. Even when the score seems stacked against us, if we know Jesus, victory is ours.

Christ has called us to run the race with perseverance. Everything we need we will find in Christ. In Jesus there is all the hope we need, all the love we need, all the grace we need, all the power, strength, wisdom, determination, patience, guidance, encouragement, joy, forgiveness – all we need He has. So as we run this race, may no one falter. Let’s follow our Leader, the Lord Jesus. Let’s finish strong.

“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”  Hebrews 12:1-2 NIV
