Message: The Jesus Journey (Luke 5:1-11)

It’s extremely important to know God’s will for our personal lives. In God’s will we find purpose, meaning, and fulfillment. Remember these truths: 1) God never gives a foolish command, 2) God intends to bless those who obey, and 3) God’s greatest miracles usually require our cooperation.

God’s will is always good. Don’t be afraid to follow Jesus. You’ll never regret it. Are you ready to follow where He leads? If you’ve never trusted Christ to salvation, He is inviting you today.

Blessings,

Avoiding Amnesia (1 Corinthians 11:23-26)

When you think about memory, we should avoid amnesia – specifically spiritual amnesia. The Bible is peppered and punctuated with scriptures telling us to remember certain things. The writer of Hebrews tells us to remember those in prison as if we’re their fellow prisoners and those who are mistreated as if you yourselves were suffering. He goes on to tell us to remember your leaders who spoke the Word of God with you. In Ecclesiastes, we are told to remember your Creator in the days of your youth. In Galatians, we are told to remember the poor. Paul told young Timothy to remember Jesus Christ, remember He was raised from the dead. Remember these things. The Lord wants us to remember.

Do you remember the day you were saved? Where you were when you met Jesus? Do you remember how you were eager to go to church? How your faith would move mountains? How you had excitement and enthusiasm? Have you forgotten? We aught to remember that our sin put Him on the cross. Jesus died for you and me! The death of Jesus reveals the awfulness of sin, the goodness of God’s love, the value of a lost soul, and the ONLY way to salvation. Remember… and avoid spiritual amnesia.

Good News! Good News! – Revelation 3:14-22

What a wonderful day of worship at Burgin Baptist Church!

Kaylee McCray, a young lady from the youth group, bravely gave her testimony. This was followed by baptisms, interpretative movement by Hannah Sanders, and a sermon about the Good News.  Pastor Carl reminded us that God has provided our greatest need by providing the greatest gift!

Watch the video and be blessed!

God has provided our greatest NEED by providing the greatest GIFT.

Sermon: Memory Can Be A Good Thing (Luke 22:14-20)

Observance of Baptism and The Lord’s Supper

Memory can be a good thing! We celebrate The Lord’s Supper to remember.  Remembering has significance.

  1. Historical significance
  2. Redemptive significance
  3. Personal significance

BaptismJune 4, 2017 was a wonderful day for celebrations and remembering! We, as a faith family, witnessed and celebrated the baptisms of some new believers. We also celebrated The Lord’s Supper in remembrance of what Jesus did for all of us. Jesus said in Luke 22:19, “do this in remembrance of me.” As followers, we are to partake of the Lord’s Supper. As we partake, we are remembering the sacrifice of Jesus, His shed blood, His resurrection, that He is reigning, and He is the soon returning King! It is also a time for each of us to examine our own life (not our neighbors, coworkers or family) and repent of our sin.

“And he [Jesus] took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me.” – Luke 22:19
