Message: what It Takes To Be A Good Crew (Colossians 3:23)

What does it takes to be a good crew, to be a good Christian, to be a good church? Opportunities must be grasped and taken, but so many people only do the least to get by. However, we can make a difference. You can make a difference. Burgin Baptist Church can make a difference. We have a great God! We need godly leaders and we need eager participants. A good crew needs enthusiasm (Colossians 3:23), determination (Galatians 6:9), and a vision. As a church, we can be a good crew because we have a great God. it’s up to you.

Blessings,

Avoiding Amnesia (1 Corinthians 11:23-26)

When you think about memory, we should avoid amnesia – specifically spiritual amnesia. The Bible is peppered and punctuated with scriptures telling us to remember certain things. The writer of Hebrews tells us to remember those in prison as if we’re their fellow prisoners and those who are mistreated as if you yourselves were suffering. He goes on to tell us to remember your leaders who spoke the Word of God with you. In Ecclesiastes, we are told to remember your Creator in the days of your youth. In Galatians, we are told to remember the poor. Paul told young Timothy to remember Jesus Christ, remember He was raised from the dead. Remember these things. The Lord wants us to remember.

Do you remember the day you were saved? Where you were when you met Jesus? Do you remember how you were eager to go to church? How your faith would move mountains? How you had excitement and enthusiasm? Have you forgotten? We aught to remember that our sin put Him on the cross. Jesus died for you and me! The death of Jesus reveals the awfulness of sin, the goodness of God’s love, the value of a lost soul, and the ONLY way to salvation. Remember… and avoid spiritual amnesia.

Blessings,

Burgin Baptist Church

Message: What A Gift (Galatians 5)

The only way to experience genuine freedom is through Jesus Christ. The Good News is not to be put in our pocket and hidden. Everybody needs the Good News and Jesus Christ. We should be ringing out the Good News to all who will listen. Memorial Day is for remembering, rejoicing and ringing out. Christ has set us free (Galatians 5:1).  As Christians, we are no longer ruled by our sinful nature. What a gift!

“It is for freedom that Christ has set us free.”

Galatians 5:1

Message: Good News for Graduates (1 Samuel 17)

Everybody likes to cheer for the underdog. We root for Indiana Jones against the Nazi. In a newer movie, we root for the Avengers against Thanos. We love to applaud and cheer for the underdog to compete and to win.. We want to see them overcome tremendous obstacles and succeed. But we don’t want to face those obstacles ourselves. We don’t want to be the underdog. Today, you may feel like you are the underdog facing a lot of challenges, adjustments, and uncertainties, Life is like a big giant. You may be graduating high school and facing the giant of college. You might be graduating college and see your opposing giant as grad school. Your giant may simply be a greater responsibility in the workforce.

The story of David and Goliath is the ultimate underdog story. As we walk through this story together, we can learn some principles from David – how he dealt with his giant – so that you learn how to deal with yours. What did David have? How could David face the giant when others couldn’t? God is bigger than any problem you will ever face. That’s the good news! Remember this as you face your giants. The battle is the Lords!

Blessings,

Burgin Baptist Church
