December 24, 2017 Christmas Eve Sunday Morning Worship | Carl McCray, Pastor

Waiting on Christmas (Luke 2:22-38)

Join Burgin Baptist Church and worship the Risen Lord with us! Today, Missy Bradford shared her testimony, the Burgin Baptist choir lifted their voices in praise to our Lord and Risen Savior, and Brother Carl gave a message about comfort and forgiveness.

What are you hoping to receive this Christmas?

Simeon was waiting to be comforted, Anna was waiting for forgiveness (Luke 2:22-38). What are you hoping to receive this Christmas? What are you waiting for? Jesus provides exactly what we need! When Jesus came, He provided the very things Simeon and Anna were waiting for.

It is our desire for everyone to experience God’s comfort and forgiveness. Be a marveler (verse 33), be a mover (verse 28) and be a messenger (verse 38). Watch the video to hear and learn more. Whatever you are looking for today, you can find it in Jesus. Don’t miss out. Don’t procrastinate.

Blessings,

Burgin Baptist Church

How Will You Experience Christmas?

Every week, unless due to an unforeseen (usually technical) issue, Burgin Baptist Church posts our morning worship service.  In today’s worship, Heather Thomas told her personal testimony, Hannah Sanders shared her interpretive movement to the song, “Breath of Heaven” by Amy Grant, and Pastor Carl McCray taught from Luke 2:14-20 about Eight Days ‘Til Christmas.

Eight Days ‘Til Christmas (Luke 2:14-20)

People can experience the same thing – attend the same church, same class, same sermon – but have entirely different perspectives. How can that be? What we experience is determined by what we’re looking for. There are eight days until Christmas, and here is the important question. How will you experience Christmas this year?  In Luke, we see how differently the first Christmas was experienced…

  1. The angels experienced Christmas with great joy (Luke 2:14 NIV)
  2. Mary experienced Christmas with wonder. She pondered it all in her heart. (Luke 2:19 NIV),
  3. The magi experienced Christmas as a journey (Matthew 2:1-12 NIV), The Christian life is a journey. What are you seeking?
  4. Herod experienced Christmas as a threat (Matthew 2:1-13 NIV).
  5. Shepherds experienced Christmas personally (Luke 2:15-16 NIV). They wanted to see the newborn King for themselves. Then they shared their story of what they saw to others.

How will you experience Christmas? The greatest gift you can receive at Christmas is salvation and forgiveness of sins. Experience Christ fully this Christmas!

Blessings,

Burgin Baptist Church
