Easter Sunday Service with Pastor Carl McCray and solo by Linda Dane

Passage: Matthew 28:1-10

So much has changed in our society due to the coronavirus, “sheltering at home” and social distancing.

In the eyes of most people, Easter 2020 has been canceled – no travel plans, big family dinners, or Easter egg hunts, Everything has been disrupted. With Easter in quarantine, we may be celebrating differently than in the past, but let’s remind ourselves of what has not changed. Jesus Christ is alive and the tomb is empty!

Message: Don’t Give Up

What do you do when you ask God for help and He doesn’t seem to answer? When Lazarus became sick, his sisters, Mary and Martha, asked Jesus to come. By the time Jesus arrived, Lazarus had been dead several days.

You may ask some of these questions. Why does God allow bad things to happen? How can the Lord see so much suffering and be silent? Where is God? Why doesn’t God show up when I need Him the most?

Sometimes we pray only to experience His stillness. What do you do when you ask, when you seek, when you knock and – when you do that – God seems silent? Some think God doesn’t care and they give up. Maybe you are on the verge of giving up today. When God is silent, don’t give up!

The fact is that God answers prayers. Prayers cause things to happen! God loves us. He wants us to grow (James 1:2-3). And like in the case of Mary and Martha when Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead – sometimes God wants to show off (in a good way).

This Changes Everything (Matthew 28)

Jesus Christ came to this world on a rescue mission. He came to seek and to save. He came to make a difference in our lives. Sometimes we are guilty of living as if He was never here at all. Sometimes we act like He is still dead and the tomb is still occupied. If He is dead, then we have no hope and no reason to be here. Easter changes everything! The reality is that we have a living Christ, the tomb is empty, and the throne is occupied. The Resurrection of Jesus changes everything! The Resurrection opens up Heaven for all who believe.
