How God Saves Dead People

Scripture: Ephesians 2:1-9

Carl McCray, Pastor

Scripture tells us in Romans 3:23 “all have sinned.” Sin is bad news, and the consequence is eternal separation from God. Praise the Lord that God intervened in what we call the Gospel! The Gospel is the Good News that God became man in Jesus Christ. He lived a life we should have lived and died a death that we should have died in our place. God intervened. Three days later we know He rose from the dead proving that he is the Son of God and offering the gift of salvation for all who repent and believe the Gospel. God intervened. God saves dead people!
The Lord's Supper

When we partake of the Lord’s Supper, we express our love for what Jesus had done and remember the high cost Jesus gave for us. We have been deemed righteous based on the death of Jesus. He paid our debt for our sins. Salvation is free. Our debt is paid in full!

“and when he [Jesus] had given thanks, he broke it and said, “This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me.”
1 Corinthians 11:24 (NIV)

The Lord’s Supper is an…

  1. Expression – 1 Corinthians 11:24
  2. Explanation – 1 Corinthians 11:26
  3. Expectation – 1 Corinthians 11:26
  4. Examination – 1 Corinthians 11:28

Examine yourself today. Have you accepted Christ as your Savior? Have you really been saved? It’s not about knowledge – its about a relationship with Jesus and knowing Jesus as Savior and leader of your life. Remember, an inaction is a decision!

Sermon: The World’s Greatest Problem (Ephesians 2:1-3)

What is the world’s greatest problem? The answer is sin. Nobody wants to talk about sin. It’s an unpopular subject. However; just because we don’t talk about it, doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist. The human race is sinful. No one is immune, no one is exempt, no one is innocent. Romans 3:10 (NIV) tells us “There is no one righteous, not even one..” Because of sin, we are in big trouble…. unless somebody intervenes!

“…I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.” – Jesus

Matthew 9:13 (NIV)

There is good news! God intervened. He provided a divine cure for our sin. He sent his Son. Jesus tells us in Matthew 9:13, “…I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.” Jesus Christ is the only one who can take away our sin. Do you understand the bad news – the facts about sin, the nature of sin, the consequences sin? Are you ready to receive God’s gift of forgiveness and have His leadership in your life?
