Message: Good News for Graduates (1 Samuel 17)

Everybody likes to cheer for the underdog. We root for Indiana Jones against the Nazi. In a newer movie, we root for the Avengers against Thanos. We love to applaud and cheer for the underdog to compete and to win.. We want to see them overcome tremendous obstacles and succeed. But we don’t want to face those obstacles ourselves. We don’t want to be the underdog. Today, you may feel like you are the underdog facing a lot of challenges, adjustments, and uncertainties, Life is like a big giant. You may be graduating high school and facing the giant of college. You might be graduating college and see your opposing giant as grad school. Your giant may simply be a greater responsibility in the workforce.

The story of David and Goliath is the ultimate underdog story. As we walk through this story together, we can learn some principles from David – how he dealt with his giant – so that you learn how to deal with yours. What did David have? How could David face the giant when others couldn’t? God is bigger than any problem you will ever face. That’s the good news! Remember this as you face your giants. The battle is the Lords!

The Resurrection – Pass It On (Matthew 28)

As a follower of Jesus, we are all on a mission from God. Our mission is to tell others the Good News about getting a second chance (John 3:17). God didn’t send Jesus to condemn us, but to save us. No matter your past, you can have a fresh start. Our mission is to tell others what God has promised. He has promised to make our paths straight (Proverbs 3:5-6), and that He will meet all of our needs (Philippians 4:19). Our mission is to tell others that a life of obedience to Christ can turn your life around (Matthew 28:20). Our mission is to tell others that Jesus is always with us wherever we go (Joshua 1:9 and Matthew 28:20). In Christ, you are not alone.

What’s on your lips? The Good News? When was the last time you shared the Good News? The Resurrection changes everything. Make a difference for eternity and pass it on!

“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit” Matthew 28:19 NIV

Good News! Good News! – Revelation 3:14-22

What a wonderful day of worship at Burgin Baptist Church!

Kaylee McCray, a young lady from the youth group, bravely gave her testimony. This was followed by baptisms, interpretative movement by Hannah Sanders, and a sermon about the Good News.  Pastor Carl reminded us that God has provided our greatest need by providing the greatest gift!

Watch the video and be blessed!

God has provided our greatest NEED by providing the greatest GIFT.

Sermon: The World’s Greatest Problem (Ephesians 2:1-3)

What is the world’s greatest problem? The answer is sin. Nobody wants to talk about sin. It’s an unpopular subject. However; just because we don’t talk about it, doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist. The human race is sinful. No one is immune, no one is exempt, no one is innocent. Romans 3:10 (NIV) tells us “There is no one righteous, not even one..” Because of sin, we are in big trouble…. unless somebody intervenes!

“…I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.” – Jesus

Matthew 9:13 (NIV)

There is good news! God intervened. He provided a divine cure for our sin. He sent his Son. Jesus tells us in Matthew 9:13, “…I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.” Jesus Christ is the only one who can take away our sin. Do you understand the bad news – the facts about sin, the nature of sin, the consequences sin? Are you ready to receive God’s gift of forgiveness and have His leadership in your life?
