Message: Missing the Mark

Something supernatural from heaven invaded those gathered in the upper room on the day of Pentecost and it changed them forever. What happened? The disciples were filled with the Holy Spirit. That’s what happened. Our greatest need today is for those who know Jesus to experience what the early disciples experienced. If we really want to impact our community, our school, our workplace, we need to be filled with God’s Spirit. 1 Peter 4:11 says, “If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God.”

When was the last time you witnessed someone living their life sold out for Jesus instead of the casual commitment that so many have today? How long has it been since you have been “stirred?” When God speaks, do you listen? The world is looking for evidence that our Christianity is real, that it has made a difference and has changed our lives.

Would you give God, the Holy Spirit, permission to do something supernatural in your heart and life today? If so, get ready. If not, you’re going to miss out.

PRAYER:  Lord, revive your work in me. I don’t want to miss another day without experiencing Your best. Transform me to be the person you have called me to be. Amen.

When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.” Acts 2:1-4 (NIV)

Faith and Adventure: Living Under the Influence (Acts 8:14-17)

God responds to faith. When we walk by faith, it is and will be a great adventure! God does the impossible and He can do the miraculous in and through us. The Spirit-filled life is not intended to be an option. It is an essential part of following the Lord. We need to experience the filling of the Holy Spirit if we desire to push back the darkness, if we want to make a difference in the Kingdom, blaze a path for others to follow, and impact our community and others around us. We need to be filled with God’s Holy Spirit.

What does it mean to be filled with the Holy Spirit?

Being filled means…

  1. He’s getting more of you. There’s no off limits!
  2. You’re’ living under the influence.
  3. It’s an ongoing experience.

God’s plan is for His people to receive Him and surrender to Him every day. Does the Holy Spirit have control? Maybe it’s time to get serious and ask God to fill you with His Holy Spirit. Ask the Lord to fill you – to rule and to reign every portion of your life.

“But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.” John 14:26 RSV

Blessings!
