Passage:  Philippians 1:6

God is faithful. Philippians 1:6 teaches us that God starts the work in us. He keeps us from falling (Jude 1:24). God equips us to do His will (Hebrews 13:20-21), and He promises to complete His work (1 Thessalonians 5:23-24). What is the greatest miracle? The greatest miracle of all is the transformation of a sinner into a saint. Has there ever been a time that God started a good work in you? If not, God wants to, and He can today! Simply place yourself in His hands.

Sermon: “How Big is the God You Serve?”
(Numbers 13-14)

How big is God? The God I serve is a big God who can do the impossible!

Children have a tendency to brag about their dads. As a follower of Christ and child of God, it is not bragging when you think and talk about what our Heavenly Father has done. We don’t have to exaggerate even the slightest. The Bible is filled with the greatness of our God with miracle after miracle. We can read about great miracles such as Jesus feeding the 5000 (Matthew 14:13-21), raising Lazarus from the dead (John 11:38-44), how He healed a leper (Matthew 8:1-4), and stilled a raging storm (Matthew 4:35-41) – and they are not exaggerations. What the scripture says is true, what God has done is great, and there is no one like our God! The miracles are recorded so that we may understand that we serve a big God. Nothing is impossible for our big God! Jesus can do the miraculous!

However, the devil does a great job of convincing many people that the God we serve is not a big God. An example is found in Numbers 13-14. Twelve spies were sent to look at the promised land, the land of “milk and honey,” that God was giving to the Israelites. Only two of the spies, Joshua and Caleb, brought back a positive report. They represent a group that says, “Our God is great, our God is big.” The other ten spies had a negative report. They represent those who say, “our God is small and can’t do big things.” As we look at these two different groups, we can learn something about our God and about ourselves. Are you a “big” God servant or a “small” God servant? How big is the God you serve?
