Why is life so difficult? (2 Corinthians 2:6)

Is anybody’s life a cake walk, perfect and rosy? The state of the human race, if you look at the news, reveals to us that we are incapable of living peaceful lives one with another. Life can be extremely messy hindered by financial stress, self-imposed health problems, rebellious children, divorce, conflict with our neighbors, dishonesty, crime and fear. We should be able to live the good life, but it seems to be out of our reach. Why is life so difficult?

Jesus tells us in John 10:10, “The thief (Satan) comes only to steal and kill and destroy., but I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” Life is difficult because we are all sinners from birth (Psalm 51:5), and our best efforts on our own are not good enough (Isaiah 64:6).

There is hope! There is a solution! Jesus gives us the opportunity to be made a new creation and spiritually alive – not repaired or fixed – but new (2 Corinthians 5:17). When you accept Christ as your Savior and Lord, the Holy Spirit comes to dwell within you. Then your life has new potential and new meaning. Romans 8:13 tells us, “If you do what your sinful old selves want you to do, you will die in sin. But if, through the power of the Holy Spirit, you destroy those actions to which the body can be led, you will have life.” If you are in Christ, you have the potential to have an abundant life and experience God’s favor and blessings. God made a plan to intervene through Jesus, and He offers new life as a gift. God wants everyone to come to repentance and have an abundant life.

You have a choice. Are you ready to trust Christ as your Savior and become a new creation?
